Housing Grant for Minorities

The strength of any nation lies in adopting integrated approach to create strong and thriving communities and United States Government realizes this. Within the precinct of its various schemes and programs for minorities, government has housing grants to realize dreams of minorities of owing their houses. It is a dream to establish racism free society enabling them to breathe in the air having a freshness of freedom and fulfillment.

If you are Hispanic, African American, American Indian, Asian or belonging to any of the minority groups craving to have house of your own liking but financial consideration is blocking your way, then don’t worry! You can always avail grants offered by the government without having to be paid back.

Any person above 18 years belonging to minority community and an American citizen can apply for grant to construct a house. There are no stringent measures, no credit checks, no security deposits and no-cosigners, as are required by banks. Even if you have bad credit score or are even bankrupt, then also you are eligible for the grant. As a taxpayer, you have the right on this money, as these grants are the funds, collected through taxes.

In fact under this grant, government has sanctioned millions of dollars for the purchase of your first house and you can even get a grant for remodeling your house to the amount of 75 thousand dollars. Since 2001, administration had set a target of giving 5.5 million minorities their homes by the year 2010. Since the day President made the announcement, more than one million new minority families have attained house ownership.

Recently approved President’s American Dream Down Payment Initiative had increased the opportunities for the 40,000 low-income people and first time buyers. President has special budget for the said project and for Self-Help Homeownership Opportunities Program, a single-family homeownership housing tax credit, and new mortgage products.

To get access to the grant what is required is to contact government organizations or local agencies, fill up the form answering the questions and then an officer from minority grant agency will evaluate the application. If your application meets the criteria of the agency, you will be eligible for the grant but your application may take some time to be processed i.e. may be about 4 to 6 weeks before you get a written approval. So be patient and don’t get panic!
